Although this is not a critical doctrine relating to salvation, nevertheless, it is in the Bible. You will see how the Roman Catholic Church has perverted a wholesome, God-given doctrine and has tried to make it mean something God never intended for it to mean. The problem is that the majority of Believers accept this false dogma, as they do all the other Catholic heresies, and never challenge or expose them. It may have something to do with the fact that most Christians hardly ever read or study the Bible, and salve their consciences by reading Daily Bread and watching the false prophets on "Christian" television!
Don't get me wrong, the Bible does refer to some departed believers as saints, although the majority of references are to the believers who are physically ALIVE!
The Roman Catholic Church "canonizes" "saints" years after they are dead. The Bible teaches that ALL Believers in Christ are saints NOW, while they are physically alive. Did you know that?
It becomes quite humorous to read the following passages if you would picture the "saints" being dead as you read the verses! I wonder if Jesus had this doctrine in mind when he scathed the Pharisees for teaching the doctrines of men.
